Want to become a nurse?
You couldn’t pick a better place to start your career than here at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
The best route to becoming a nurse at our Trust is to become a Nursing Assistant—you will then play an essential role in supporting the delivery of the highest standard of quality care to our patients. Join us at one of our open days, to get a feel for the hospital, and what it is like to be a nurse.
The Trust has developed four pathways for individuals to undertake the role of Nursing Assistant:
Experienced Nursing Assistants
This pathway is for individuals, who already have experience as a Nursing Assistant, or those who have experience of working in a care environment.
Working as an experienced Nursing Assistant on the Bank
This pathway is on a flexible and temporary basis, in order to help fill gaps, where there are staffing shortages.
Trainee Nursing Assistants
This pathway allows individuals, who have no previous experience as a Nursing Assistant, to start working in healthcare, and learn on the job, whilst completing an Essential Care Programme, work-based competencies, and the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 2.
This pathway is ideal for pre nursing/medical students wishing to gain experience and knowledge prior to starting their degrees.
